2010 Yearly Review #1

Last year as I started this blog I wanted to capture the moments that make us the Maupins.
I didn't do a great job.
The problem with trying to capture moments is that we're usually busy doing the moments (plus...I'm still severely technologically challenged and procrastination prone...).
Arg.
What a conundrum.

Anyhoo...back in 2009 I thought that hearing everyone's perspective on the closing year might be entertaining. If you've read the blog at all, you know I like tradition and routine...so I figured...let's hear everyone's perspective on the close of 2010. Let the entertainment begin.

My interview with Elizabeth. Age 8. 2nd grade.

Mom: What is the best thing we did as a family this past year?
Lizzy: Spending Christmas together this year. It was a really fun thing.

Mom: What is the best meal you had?
Lizzy: When my mom cooks chicken legs with barbecue sauce!

Mom: Who did you meet this year? Any new friends?
Lizzy: I started a new school this year, but I'm not really friends yet with any of the kids.

Mom: Who did you say goodbye to this year?
Lizzy: Since I started a new school I said bye to Ms. Kwock.

Mom: What did you learn this past year?
Lizzy: To write in cursive and how to dribble a basketball.

Mom: What was the scariest thing that happened in 2010?
Lizzy: On New Year's Eve I cut my thumb with sharp scissors. I thought I was going to die. Mr. Kevin saved my life.

Mom: What did we do in 2010 that you want to do next year?
Lizzy: Spend hot summer days at Comprehensive Park.

Mom: Anything we did that you DO NOT want to do again?
Lizzy: I do not want to move to a brand new school again!

Mom: How did you grow closer to God this past year?
Lizzy: I started a Bible study called "Kids For God" with Timmy and Maddy. We read parts of the Bible, have a snack and play games.

Mom: Give me five words that describe you.
Lizzy: silly, bruises a lot, talkative (when it's time), curious, loves sugar

Mom: What is your #1 wish for 2011?
Lizzy: For Star Wars to come true and get a pet horse.

Mom's perspective:Elizabeth is our extrovert. She is extremely social; making friends with anyone. She is a self-proclaimed artist and she is also musical. She loves to sing and dance. You can usually find her outside climbing trees or racing her scooter at break-neck speeds. Really she is fearless and headstrong...unless there is blood. Then she goes into panic shut-down mode. She is an excellent writer and very imaginative.
